27 February 2022

Good Evening Roosevelt Families,

It has been an eventful start to the 2022 calendar year.  We are all happy that the recent Omicron Covid surge is receding.  The Russian attack on Ukraine is definitely concerning.  We all are continuing to do our best.  On a related note, perhaps your child has shared with you that we recently enrolled students that have relocated here from Afghanistan.  We are welcoming seven more students tomorrow, and many students/staff/parents have reached out about ways to help.  Gift cards to local grocery and retail stores, as well as rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft, are a huge help for these students and their families at this point.  Feel free to check in with me or Ms. Cassie Barajas in our front office if you would like to help.

Parent Volunteering Opportunities

We are now able to start letting parents back on to campus to help us with volunteering!

We are needing the most help with supervision during lunches and after school. We are still in the process of working out the logistics including some training sessions, but if you are interested in potentially volunteering with us, please let us know here or contact VP Brewer with any questions, cbrewer@sandi.net.

Please help with Social Media!

Our teachers, counselors, and administrators continue to help students through conflict that often starts with social media, and group chats.  These small conflicts can turn into much larger social conflicts on campus which then need hours of mediation between multiple students.  Please help us help our children! With your children, please take a look at their phones and computers to get an idea of the conversations and interactions they are having. We are seeing the biggest problems stemming from group chats, instagram chats, discord, and tiktok. Thank you so much for your support!!
