Good Evening Roosevelt Families,

I have a number of important updates for you this week.  I hope everyone enjoys this last week before Spring Break!

Student Led Conferences

This week from March 23 to March 25 we will have minimum days.  March 23 and March 24 are our scheduled time for Student Led Conferences.  We are going to continue our practice of having students lead these discussions with you all at home. Teachers will help students complete this form, which includes evaluating projects or assignments that they are proud of and that have challenged them.  Teachers will be available to connect with you either on Zoom, phone or over email after school on Wednesday and Thursday.

Spirit Week

This week begins a fun Spirit Week at Roosevelt, please remind your children to participate!

Soccer Tryouts

Our Roosevelt soccer team tryouts are finally here, and will be Monday and Tuesday after school from 3:30-5:00!  Please see this attached flier for more information.

San Diego High School Visit During 8th Grade Lunch on Tuesday

San Diego High School Showcase and Enrollment Event will be on Roosevelt campus Tuesday, March 22nd during 8th Grade lunch.   High students and staff from ASB, Athletics, AJROTC, Cheer, and various pathways will be present to answer questions and promote all of the opportunities at SDHS.  This will be a fun lunch time event for the entire class.  

Next week high school enrollment packets will  be sent home with all 8th grade students.  In order to complete enrollment to San Diego High- parents must complete the packet and return them off to San Diego High School enrollment fair scheduled for April 16th 8:00 am – 12:00 pm.  If that day doesn’t work you can drop the completed packet to SDHS during regular hours.

Counseling Update

This past month, the counseling department has been presenting information to students around the topic of gossip and rumors.  Please partner with us in helping students understand the impact of gossip and rumors on other students and their friendships.

California Parent Survey

The California Parent Survey provides us with information that will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, and improve student achievement.  Your participation is voluntary but is also very important. RMS Welcomes Afghan Refugee Students

The Friends of Roosevelt Foundation have set up an online Afghan Refugee Families Fund to purchase gift cards from retailers to be distributed to the families of our Afghan Students attending Roosevelt IB MS.  Please consider a donation: RMS Community Afghan Refugee Families Fund | RooFriends.org

Roosevelt LEVEL UP Summer School Experience

PrimeTime Registration

Primetime registration is now open and will close on April 15. It is recommended to sign up as early as possible to reserve a spot, just in case there is a waiting list for morning or afternoon sessions.

Monday Morning Art Sessions

Dr. Herndon will continue hosting Monday morning art sessions in room 315 at 7:15.  This opportunity is open to all students, no sign up required!

Absence Reporting

Please continue to report absences using this link. Our teachers are making sure all assignments are available in Google Classroom, please check classes with your child for updates.
