30 May 2022

Good Evening Roosevelt Families,

I hope you have enjoyed the long weekend with your family.  As we celebrate Memorial Day, it is important to remember all the members of our U.S. military who have died serving our country.

I also want to remember the individuals who perished last week in another school shooting.  While I appreciate that our district sent a message about the tragedy that occurred in Texas last week, I wanted to let you all know that I shared a message with all of our students on RooTube.  I told our children that I see Roosevelt students and staff as my second family.  Their safety is my first priority and always will be.  I am thankful that our campus security guard, Mr. Munoz, is always there to help our students and community.  With Ms. Brewer, me, and all of our staff members, we communicate immediately when there is a safety need.  I am also thankful for our school police officers, who support the schools in our area, and respond immediately when needed.  The events in the world can be traumatizing for our kids.  Please talk with them and encourage them to reach out to their counselor if they need support.  Additionally, many of us will be wearing orange on Friday to support victims of gun violence: https://wearorange.org/.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.  Thank you.

Thank You For Your Support!

Thank you to all the Roosevelt Families and Friends who supported the RooFriends Mr. Moto Dine Out and the volunteers (students and parents) who worked at this weekend's Parking Fundraiser.  Your support is greatly appreciated and helps fund our amazing librarian Mrs. Hassan, as well as the After School Enrichment and other programs that our students love!
