Good Evening Roosevelt Families,

Today as we remember 9/11, such a tragic event in our country’s history, I want to express my sympathy to all the families who have lost loved ones to senseless violence.  Living in New York at the time of the attack I can still feel the collective pain we all felt, and I remember well the unity in the city and the country in the days and months that followed.  I am eternally thankful for all of those who have sacrificed their lives to help others.

After School Enrichment (ASE)

• RooFriends is launching FALL 2022 ASE registration today!
• Registration closes THIS FRIDAY September 16 at midnight.
• Thank you to the volunteer ASE Team for organizing this opportunity for all RMS Students.
• Thanks to the Friends of Roosevelt Foundation for sponsoring the ASE program, making it available AT NO COST to RMS Families. Such a great program!

RooFriends Community Meeting on Thursday, September 15th at 6 pm

Here is the Zoom meeting link.  Looking forward to gathering as a community over Zoom, connecting with parents, and answering questions about ASE!

School Site Council (SSC) and Site Governance Team (SGT)

Thank you to our wonderful candidates for the open position on both SGT and SSC.  Here is the ballot for everyone to fill out.  Please vote by this Thursday, September 15th.   Good luck to our candidates!

• As a reminder, SSC provides input on our Title 1 budget spending and allocation.  Our first SSC meeting will be September 29th at 4 pm.
• SGT helps develop policies and procedures at Roosevelt.  The first SGT  meeting will be October 6th at 4 pm.
• All meetings are public and will be held over Zoom.  If anyone would like to attend with me in person, please let me or our office staff know ahead of time.

CORE SEL in Individuals in Societies Classes

• All students will be taking the CORE SEL in their Individuals in Societies classrooms in the next two weeks.
• The CORE SEL survey is designed to assess student connection to campus and provides valuable information for us to be able to support our students.

Back to School Night and Picture Day Will Both Be Thursday, September 22!

• Back to School Night will start at 5:15 pm

• Food Trucks will be on site!  More information to come.

Basketball and Track Tryouts Are Back on Wednesday!

Tryouts will be this Monday, September 12th, from 3:34-5:04. Please Arrive 10 Minutes Early. Registration closed on Friday, only those who registered will be allowed to try out.

 Basketball Meeting location:            Outdoor basketball courts

 Track & field Meeting location:            Lunch arbor

We ask that your child bring a filled water bottle(s), athletic attire, sunscreen, and a towel to tryouts.

COVID Testing

Students and staff are able get tested at school by opting in to regular, on-site testing through Responsive Lab Partners. To opt in to testing, visit the Primary Health Portal to register for an account for your child. Please sign the consent in the portal and select the school that your child attends.

• Testing at Roosevelt will be Monday afternoons from 12-3 pm.  
• We will send passes to students each Monday morning.  If your child does not receive a pass they may head to Room 802 during lunch.

Message from Our IB Coordinator Team

We are still looking for a Photographer (preferably with a drone) and a Yoga Instructor who would be willing to donate their time and be a part of our Peace One Day activities on September 21st from 1:00-3:15 PM.
